While most of my newborn sessions happen in the first couple weeks of life, sometimes parents get busy. The weeks go by, and before they know it, their baby is a month old!
So the question I get asked sometimes is, can we do a newborn session at 5 weeks old? The answer is yes! Little Frankie here is one example of that. The important thing to keep in mind when doing a session later is that at this age, babies are sometimes lighter sleepers and have been out of the womb long enough they don’t necessarily want to get into those womb-like poses. That said, it does not mean you can’t have a great session! There are so many things you can still do to capture a baby’s sweetness even when past that traditional newborn session stage. I tend to do natural, baby-led poses regardless of age, so it absolutely works! I even photographed my own little guy a couple years ago at 8 weeks old.
So now that we’ve determined it is possible to do later newborn sessions, let’s discuss Frankie for a minute. First of all, that name. Seriously! Is it not the cutest name in the history of ever? She is an absolute doll, and I loved getting to snuggle her for a bit. Her parents are amazing too, along with the fur sister, Nellie!
This family’s bedroom was absolutely perfect for lifestyle family photos. A lifestyle focus is another great way to capture babies after those first few weeks.
I hope everyone love the photos of Frankie as much as I loved taking them! Enjoy!
