Fine Art & Visual Expression Review

This past fall, I had the privilege of taking Fine Art & Visual Expression, also known as “FAVE“, taught by Elle Walker, via Clickin Moms University. I had heard so many great things about it, I had known for some time it was a class I would eventually take. When I saw the class was going to be offered in the fall, I excitedly signed up, and I couldn’t wait to be pushed and to see growth in my work.

My mind was blown the very first week. No, make that the first day! Each week’s lesson includes page after page of information and ideas that helped me think of things in new ways. I’m currently working through all the materials again, and my mind continues to be blown by the materials and the wealth and depth of knowledge Elle shared with us students. One of my goals for 2016 is to spend more time documenting my children, and I’ve been using the FAVE materials as inspiration. I’m quite sure every time I review the course materials, I’ll learn something new and do some growing as a result.

This class has transformed my work, was instrumental in my journey to Click Pro, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to be pushed, to grow, and to take their work to the next level!

Here are some photos I took during this workshop.

Let’s start with one of the very first. I remember taking this later in the evening. I didn’t have much in the way of exciting light, but I couldn’t want to get started, so I made it work. I also feel like this photo is a good representation of how I started the workshop, as compared with some of the others below, showing growth from this starting point.

No pressure for them to smile at me or do anything beyond what they would have already been doing. This type of photography is so much less stress for both Mommy & Child!everyday documentary photo of daughter

So yes, in this next one, she is wearing a dress with a tag on it. Maybe it was partially an oversight. However, I also feel it is a bit of the story, as this is the day I had bought this dress for her, and she was so excited to wear it, we didn’t even have a chance to remove tags. It was also one of the last weeks she preferred such girly dresses over her newest love, Batman.

Another pretty dress below, one I would have a lot of trouble getting her to wear right now. Oh, and by the way, this dress *is* available for clients’ use as well!

I know this next one is noisy, but I love her direct gaze, and the line of the countertop. Maybe some will disagree, but I find myself not bothered by the noise.

This post may be more geared towards photographers but, so clients are aware, we can always do this documentary style of photography in lieu of a more traditional photo session. Click here if you’d like to learn more about it.
