Hi! I’m Heather, and I love what I do. I have a beautiful studio in Edwardsville, IL with my Willow & Mohr partner Nichole, and we serve many clients across the St. Louis Metro and beyond.
I’m a wife, and a mother. We had quite the journey to parenthood, which allows me to relate on a deep level to my clients who have faced struggles in their own journeys. Ours is a journey of loss, learning to keep hope alive when things felt quite hopeless, and feeling the deepest sense of gratitude when each and every living child we have entered the world.
Our first baby, Madelyn, was born on August 28, 2009 at 34 weeks, after a pregnancy full of hospital bed rest, coupled with emotional uncertainty. While we said both “hello” and “goodbye” in the same night, I still to this day would have rather had life with her, however brief, than to never have met her at all. She taught me so much, and I know I am a far better mother than I ever would have been without her in my life. You can read more about her story here.
After Madelyn, we had Liam, Elena, and Quentin. While parenting isn’t always easy, they are 100% my daily dose of joy. I feel so lucky to be their mom. Quentin has autism and Bainbridge Ropers Syndrome. So for mamas who have special needs kids, just know I’m always happy to work with them!
My educational background is economics, coupled with a Masters degree in human resources management from Washington University in St. Louis. While this may not be the most direct path to photography, I am a better business owner because of it.
I first picked up a camera as a way to reconnect with the joys of life and to express myself after the loss of Madelyn. It helped me to remember how precious life is, and I fell in love with the idea of never taking even the smallest of moments for granted.
I believe your photographs are a love letter to your children. By showcasing your images in your home, you will be reminded on a daily basis of the adoration you have for your family, as well as the adventures you share together.
Your photo session will be a professional, yet laidback experience. Throughout my career I’ve learned the art of capturing personalities, connections, and emotion, all in the prettiest light. My relaxed approach ensures our sessions remain stress-free and free flowing, as they should be.
My areas of specialties include maternity, newborn, baby’s first year, families, and high school seniors.
Contact me anytime to discuss your photographic needs. I’d love to meet you and your family!
I’ve had the privilege of photographing literally hundreds of babies, and I have been fortunate enough to be recognized in national publications such as People Magazine and US Weekly. I am also a teacher of other photographers, including both 1:1 mentoring, traveling workshops, and via my breakout course at Click Photo School, a world-renowned photography educational organization.
My photography style is simple, fresh, and clean. I want to capture your family as you are, in the most relaxed way possible, and in a way that you will enjoy 20 years in the future as much as you do the day your gallery is delivered.
