Fresh 48 sessions are a great way to capture a baby’s first days of life. In your Fresh 48 session, we’ll capture wrinkly fingers and toes, hospital room details showing where you spent your first days with your baby, and most importantly, the love that shines on your faces for your new addition. In normal times, we also love to capture those sibling first meetings! Those have not been able to happen due to the pandemic. However, hopefully that is something we can capture again soon!

I have never had a client regret booking a Fresh 48, but I have had many tell me later they wish they would have done it. Even if you book a traditional newborn session, Fresh 48s are still worth it, as babies change so much from the time they’re in the hospital, until you’re doing your newborn session a couple weeks later. Some families even choose to do a Fresh 48 instead of a newborn session. They are more documentary in nature, which some clients prefer over photos that are more posed or staged.

If you’d like to book a Fresh 48, reach out to and we will be happy to get that set up for you!

Heather Mohr is a natural light photographer specializing in birth, newborn, and maternity photography in the St. Louis, MO and Edwardsville, IL areas.

Dax was perfection for his Fresh 48 session at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, MO. His parents had hoped to do a birth story, but with COVID restrictions still in place, it simply was not possible. However, when a birth session isn’t possible, a Fresh 48 truly is the best option, and this is a great example of that!
