NEWBORNS – BABY-LED POSING
My approach to newborn sessions can be described as simple, organic, and timeless. Whether in my studio or your home, your baby, and your connection with your newest family member, are always the focus. Simplicity, from a neutral palette to natural poses, allow your baby’s uniqueness and your love for them to shine through. While following my gentle posing flow, I will allow your baby to take the lead throughout the session, rather than forcing any particular positions. I frequently keep babies swaddled for their portraits, so your baby remains snug, warm, and content. All setups will highlight those qualities unique to the newborn stage, such as the way they tuck their legs into their body, as well as teeny tiny fingers, lips, and toes. This not only ensures your baby’s comfort and safety, but leaves room for your baby’s character to show.
Within my approach, there are plenty of options for you to customize. At your pre-session planning consultation, I will ask you questions to get a better idea of your unique style and home decor, so that end result is as one-of-a-kind as you and your baby.
Newborns: In-Home Lifestyle Sessions
Lifestyle newborn sessions take place in your home, focusing on the beauty of your everyday life right now. I will guide you into the best light in your home, where you’ll shower your newborn with love while I capture those moments. We can also choose a couple activities for your family to do together while I document, such as bathing or feeding, or it can be as simple as sitting together on the couch where you typically cuddle your baby during the day while on maternity leave. One day, if your current home becomes a memory, your lifestyle portraits will always serve as a reminder of your baby’s first home.
Parents & Siblings
Parents and siblings are always included as participants in the newborn session. Furry children are always welcome, too! A parent’s love for their baby naturally shines from their eyes, and the emotion is palpable. Siblings can be so sweet and curious about their newest family member. These are the phenomenal moments I intend to capture with family members. Your wonderment and unconditional love make for stunning, once-in-a-lifetime photos that will serve as memories for years to come.
Baby Details
I have a special interest in the details. Perfectly formed eyelashes, tiny fingers and toes, the way your baby’s head fits in your hands – these are the things you’ll want to remember the rest of your life, and they are always included in your gallery. Each detail comes together to form the amazing little person that exists within your tiny new baby. And that is a story worth telling.
Maternity
Maternity sessions are about you, your significant other, and your baby bump! During these sessions, I aim to capture your love for each other and the anticipation of your little miracle. Your session may take place as a lifestyle session in your home, or in a beautiful outdoor location an hour before sunset.
Birth
A birth story is documentation of one of the most beautiful and life-changing moments you will ever experience in your life. Hiring a birth photographer will allow you to revel in your senses while I capture it for you, so you don’t need to worry about that. Birth sessions are 100% documentary, telling the story of your baby’s entrance to the world. They are raw and showcase strength and profound love, as well as the extraordinary story of new life. I accept 6 birth clients a year.
Fresh 48
Fresh 48 sessions are an exciting option intended to capture your time in the hospital with your new baby, telling the story of where your baby arrived, and capturing your baby’s brand newness. While birth sessions tell the story of your baby’s arrival and are documentary sessions, Fresh 48 sessions tell the story of your baby’s first days, and are a hybrid between documentary and lifestyle.
